The
Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta was founded at Jefferson College in
1848, and in 1871, the fraternity's Kappa Deuteron Chapter was established
at the University of Georgia. Twenty years later, Kappa Deuteron
mysteriously disappeared from the University's campus. Although
rumored to continue sub rosa since 1891, the chapter was not re-chartered
until 1968. In the more than thirty years since being reinstalled,
Kappa Deuteron has many accomplishments of which we are very proud.
Kappa
Deuteron has won the O.H. Cheney Cup
twelve times in only thirty-eight years of our existence. This prestigious
award goes to the most outstanding chapter of Phi Gamma Delta in
the nation, and the chapter has rare distinction of winning this
award four years in a row. We have brought the Cheney Cup home more than any Phi Gam chapter in the nation.
The
brothers of Kappa Deuteron continually strive to achieve excellence
in academics, athletics,
and service to the local community.
Aside
from the activities mentioned above, the brothers of Kappa Deuteron
also enjoy what is perhaps the strongest social calendar on campus.
Band parties, socials, fall and winter formals, the Jock Connell
Golf Classic, and our annual Native Weekend are some
of the many highlights of Kappa Deuteron's social calendar.
