sponsoring a
conference, The Multicultural South: A Graduate Student Conference, on
March 30, 2001 here on campus. Papers examining all areas of
multicultural study are welcome, and the deadline for submission is

MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION CONFERENCE

Sponsored by The Task Force for Multicultural
Education(MCTF),
with support from The College of Education
Background
The 7th Annual Conference on Multicultural Education
will bring together faculty, staff and students in the College of Education
who are involved or interested in activities or research related to enhancing
and promoting diversity and equity. Sessions
during the conference will provide information on how bridges have been built
to confront challenges. Conference sessions will also inform discussions about
barriers to overcoming the challenges facing diversity and equity.
We hope this conference will help establish directions for further
activities and research to promote and foster diversity and equity in
education.
Topics of Interest
The central theme of the conference is confronting
challenges. Topics of interest
for presentations during the conference include, but are not limited to:

Types of Sessions
Several types of sessions will run throughout the
conference, including discussion sessions (50 min.), panels (50
min.), roundtables (50 min.) and posters (30 min.).

Proposal Submissions
Proposals should be no longer than 2 pages.
The following information needs to be included in the proposal:
· Title
of your session
· Presenter
name(s), with department affiliation, office number(s), E-mail address(es),
phone and fax number(s)
· Type
of session (discussion, panel, roundtable, poster)
· Description
of your session (no more than 500 words)
All proposals should be submitted electronically to at mrichmon@coe.uga.edu.
(PDF and Word formats are preferred) or hand delivered to Marsha Richmond in G-3
Aderhold. If you have any questions
about proposal submission, or would like additional information about the
conference, please contact Tom Clees (tclees@coe.uga.edu) or Jenny Oliver (jpo@coe.uga.edu).
Review
All submissions will be reviewed on the basis of
relevance, originality, significance, soundness and clarity. A committee of five
members from the MCTF will review each submission.
