The Israel Society for Protozoology was erected in mid 1960's and since then
it is organizing annual meetings and it is represented in international forums.
Lately Prof. Dan Spira organized the International Conference in Protozoology,
which for practical reasons was transferred to Austria last year. Again, for
practical, internal reasons, the Protozoology Society is connected to the
Israel Society for Parasitology under the name of Israel Society for Parasitology,
Protozoology and Tropical Diseases. Last year the annual meeting was held
in the frame of the annual meeting of the Israel Society for Microbiology,
in the Hebrew University, Mount Scopus Campus, February 19-20, 2002. Three
section were dedicated to our society, i.e., Travel Medicine, Molecular Parasitology
and Biological, Epidemiological and Clinical Aspects of Parasitic Diseases.
