 Wayne Coppins

Wayne M. Coppins, is an assistant Professor of Religion at the University of Georgia. His research interests include the history of New Testament scholarship, the relationship between Paul and Luther, and the interpretation of the Fourth Gospel. He teaches a range of courses within the field of New Testament Studies.

After earning his B.A. in Greek and Latin at the University of Georgia in 1998, Dr. Coppins studied theology for two years at the University of Tübingen in Germany. He then moved to England where he received his M.A. in Theology from the University of Durham and his Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Cambridge.


Dr. Coppins has recently translated Prof. Martin Hengel’s article “Eye-Witness memory and the writing of the Gospels” for Prof. Graham Stanton’s Festschrift The Written Gospel (2005) and Prof. Roland Deines’ article “Martin Hengel: A Life in the Service of Christology” for a Cambridge symposium in honor of Prof. Hengel’s 80th birthday. The latter was subsequently published in the Tyndale Bulletin (2007).
