What's New

SGA just created a new logo!

We have a new and improved website - still under a little bit of construction!

We are in the process of planning our two freshman leadership programs-Freshman Board and Freshman Forum

Most of our focus for the summer is devoted to freshman and transfer orientation

Welcome

Welcome to the Student Government Association at the University of Georgia!

The Student Government Association would like to extend a congratulations to all the incoming freshman and transfer students! We look forward to meeting all of you at orientation and throughout the year! If you are looking to get involved with the Student Government there are three ways to do so:

1. Just Show Up!
SGA holds all Committee and Senate meetings in the Student Learning Center at 7:00 pm on Tuesdays. We have seven committees that anyone can join, these include: Academic Affairs, Athletic Affairs, External Affairs, Multicultural Affairs, Public Relations, Rules Committee and Student Life. You can be a member of any committee you choose!

2. Freshman Board
Freshman Board is an integral component of the Student Government Association. Through Freshman Board you will represent your fellow first years, learn and understand all that UGA has to offer, and most importantly develop close relationships with your fellow Freshman Board members and numerous upper-classmen.

Responsibilities:
Serve your fellow freshmen as a voting member of SGA Senate over the course of a year
Formulate and implement a personal initiative

Time Commitment:
One weekly meeting that should last no more than one hour
SGA Senate and Committees on Tuesday nights at 7pm
Freshman Board retreat on October 3rd & 4th

3. Freshman Forum
The Freshman Forum is designed to equip leaders entering the University with skills and practice in leading successful organizations at the collegiate level. The program accomplishes this through learning, discovering, and doing.  With the support of the Student Government Association, the Freshman Forum has the power to make improvements, share ideas and opinions, and work hand-in-hand with top student and campus leaders to make their ideas come to life.

Activities:
Developing leadership skills to guide you through your college experience
Completing a collective final group project or event

Time Commitment:
Sunday, September 29th, Kick-Off
Weekly meetings, Mondays at 8:00 pm
SGA Committee meetings, Tuesday at 7:00 pm
Freshman Forum Retreat, in January TBA
