Graduate
Student Luncheon
Friday,
October 10, 12:00 Noon
Waterbury
The SHA will again sponsor a luncheon for all registered graduate students attending our
meeting in New Orleans. The luncheon is offered free of charge, and funded by the John and LaWanda Cox Fund,
established in 2001 to promote the interests of graduate students within the SHA and the history profession.
This year’s luncheon will feature a panel discussion by four first-time authors, who will describe their
experiences in turning their dissertations into books and lessons learned along the way.
Another purpose of this luncheon is to provide a venue for students to get to know those from other institutions.
We encourage students not to sit with those from their own school, but to seek out those of like interests from elsewhere. To facilitate
that, tables will be labeled by field – e.g., Civil War, civil rights, women’s history, labor, colonial era, etc.
This year we are not asking attendees to sign up in advance. We will have tickets available to the first one hundred
graduate students to request them when they register on site at the meeting. Due to limitations of space and funding, we are not able to
provide tickets for unregistered spouses or companions. |
