Georgia Debate Union

• Friends and admirers of Senator Richard B. Russell in Georgia established the Richard B. Russell Foundation, Inc., a non-profit corporation, to preserve his records and support activities that exemplify his ideals. Activities supported by the Foundation at UGA include: The Russell Library, The Russell Chair in American History, The Russell Leadership Program, The Russell Teaching Awards, and the Russell Symposium.

• Senator Robert Byrd chronicled Senator Russell's service to the state and country in a February 1988 speech on the Senate floor [see Richard Russel Biography]. His papers are housed at UGA (additional information).

This scholarship provides funding to undergraduate debaters. Mr. Clark debated at the University of Georgia in the 1980s and went on to a successful professional career in business. Currently, Mr. Clark and his family live in Texas. Students interested in support from the Clark Scholarship should contact Dr. Edward Panetta, epanetta@uga.edu.

Augustus B. Turnbull Biography

This scholarship provides scholarship to undergraduate debaters. Dr. Turnbull debated at the University of Georgia and went on to a successful professional career. He served as the Provost at the Florida State University and the FSU conference center is named in his honor.
