The Department of Speech Communication at the University of Georgia seeks qualified applicants for four faculty positions and associate director of debate**.
Position 1: Rhetoric Open Rank
We seek applicants in the area of rhetoric for a tenure-track position at an open rank. Candidates should have demonstrated aptitude as teachers and researchers but also with leadership potential both in the discipline at large and in the local university community. Desirable candidates will add to our already excellent graduate program in one of the following areas: political communication, rhetorical/critical theory, feminism, environmental issues, scientific communication, race and ethnicity, media and culture or classical rhetoric. Candidates desiring appointment at an advanced rank should have experience and a record scholarly achievement commensurate with an advanced rank. Positions 2 and 3: Communication Studies Assistant Professor
The Department of Speech Communication invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Communication Studies. We seek quantitative social scientists and who can contribute to our strengths in communication and social influence, health, intercultural/interracial, and/or interpersonal communication. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in hand by time of appointment, an active research program, and relevant teaching experience. Position 4: Lecturer
The Department of Speech Communication invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer. Duties will include teach four courses per academic term including public speaking, interpersonal communication, and other courses in the applicant’s area of specialty. The Department of Speech Communication http://www.uga.edu/spc/ invites applications for a non-tenure track Associate Director of Debate position. Duties will include coaching the members of the Georgia Debate Union, travel, practice sessions, facilitating research, undergraduate recruiting, and limited administrative duties associated with managing the debate program. The job may include participating in outreach projects with the possibility of classroom instruction. Coaching experience at the collegiate level and an advanced degree in Speech Communication preferred. The position is renewable annually with satisfactory performance and will have a highly competitive starting salary commensurate with experience.
