| The
pig frog is sometimes likened to a bullfrog, but has a more pointed
and narrow head, and the webbing on the hind feet extends to the
very tip of the longest toe. They are olive to blackish brown and
sometimes have prominent dark spots. Like most of the ranids, the
pig frog has a white venter. But small flecks of brown or black
can be found in its groin area. The pig frog is highly aquatic and
is usually found at the edges of lakes and marshes. Its pig-like
grunt can be heard during the warm months of the year.
