We, the international students of the University of Georgia, Have created the Stanton House Society (SHS) for the purpose of promoting the exchange of ideas and friendship between people of all nationalities and ethnic origins.
The name of this organization shall be the Stanton House Society
The purpose is for international and American students to get together to share their ideas, opinions, and friendship in order to promote a better understanding of each other.
a. A membership shall be limited to regularly enrolled University of Georgia students, faculty and staff.
b. Membership shall not be denied to any person because of age, race, sex, religion, handicap, or national origin.
c. A selection committee consisting of five SHS members will be created to select members.
d. New members will be initiated at the end of each quarter.
e. Inappropriate behavior and refusal to adhere to the rules will result in either expulsion or probation. This will be decided by the officers.
f. Only members and their guests may enjoy the privileges of the SHS socials, the newsletter, and SHS sponsored events.
a. Each member must pay the due of $5 annually.
b. The change of dues will be decided by a majority vote of active members.
c. Failure to pay will result in expulsion.
a. The positions of the SHS are: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and social chair.
b. They will be elected annually, unless an officer leaves their position during the year.
c. All members can vote in elections, but must be present to do so.
d. If an officer fails in the obligations of his/her position, he/she must resign or face impeachment.
a. Meetings will be held monthly and whenever members deem it necessary.
b. Any officer can request a special meeting, provided that the other officers approve this request.
a. The SHS has an unlimited number for membership.
b. three out of five officers must be present to transact business
All amendments must be approved by all officers and a majority vote of the members.
The ratification of this constitution must be done by the five officers and two members.
