Ashley Anderson attended Oglethorpe County High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past two years. She has been accepted to Gainesville College and plans to major in physical therapy. She also received several technical career honors in business from her high school. Words of wisdom to leave to current upward bound students “Stay focused and be dedicated”. Kalyn Barnett attended Madison County High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past four years. She has been accepted to Paine College and plans to major in pre-medicine. She also received the Phi Beta Sigma academic excellence award and a $1,000 scholarship from Paine College. Words of wisdom to leave to current upward bound students “Never give up because there is always a light at the end of the tunnel”. Marcus Brown attended Madison County High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past four years. He has been accepted to Georgia State University and plans to major in computer science. Words of wisdom to leave to current upward bound students “Be a leader and excel in everything you do”. Chaitra Curry attended Madison County High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past four years. She has been accepted to Athens Technical College and plans to major in early childhood education. Words of wisdom to leave to current upward bound students “Be a good leader and not a follower and know that you can make a difference”. Shawn Gober attended Cedar Shoals High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past three years. He plans to attend Athens Technical College and major in business. Words of wisdom to leave to current upward bound students “Never give up and keep striving for greatness”. Michael Gresham attended Madison County High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past four years. He plans to attend Athens Technical College and plans to major in paralegal studies. Words of wisdom to leave to current upward bound students “When you feel like giving up, keep your head up and you will make it through”. Marquette Harris attended Clarke Central High school and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past four years. He has been accepted to Fort Valley State University and plans to major in mechanical engineering. He also received a $500 scholarship from the Athens Area Human Relations Council. Words of wisdom to leave to current upward bound students “absorb all knowledge and use it to your advantage”. Elder Johnson attended Cedar Shoals High school and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past four years. He has been accepted to Fort Valley state University and plans to major in mass communications. He also received several awards for track and football. Nicole Laguins attended Cedar Shoals High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past four years. She has been accepted to Georgia State University and plans to major in history. She also received an excellence in history award. Shaquita Maxey attended Cedar Shoals High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past four years. She has been accepted to Georgia Perimeter College and plans to major in nursing. She has also received the Georgia Perimeter Shining Star award, who’s who among high school graduated, a $500 scholarship from the Athens Area Human Relations Council, and various other leadership awards from her high school organizations. Lee Shivers attended Madison County High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past two years. He has been accepted to East Georgia College and plans to major in Business Accounting. Words of wisdom to leave to current upward bound students “Don’t ever give up”. Isaiah Stephens attended Clarke Central High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past two years. He has been accepted to Savannah State University and plans to major in sports management and marketing. He also placed on the A/B honor roll at school. Sharmar Stevens attended Oglethorpe County High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past three years. He has been accepted to Athens Technical College and plans to major in computer programming. He also received a scholarship from Athens Technical College and several awards for his musical ability from his high school. Latia Taylor She attended Cedar Shoals High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past four years. She has been accepted to Fort Valley State University and plans to major in early childhood education. She also received an academic excellence award in chemistry, was placed on the school honor roll, and received a $500 scholarship from the Athens Area Human Relations Council. Words of wisdom to leave to current upward bound students “Make the best of your Upward Bound experience and strive for excellence”. Neka Woods attended Oglethorpe County High School and has participated in the Upward Bound Program for the past four years. She has been accepted to Athens Technical College and plans to major in nursing.
