Heather Mitchell is a graduate student at The University of Georgia, currently completing her M.A. in English Literature. Her thesis examines the twin themes of nationalism and feminism in the works of Pauline Hopkins, a 19th century African-American writer, editor, publisher, and performer. In addition to African-American literature, Heather is also interested in women's literature and feminist theories and is pursuing a graduate certificate in Women's Studies. After completing her M.A., Heather plans to spend some time teaching high school before returning for her Ph.D.
