Leigh Poole chosen for Fulbright Program
- Leigh Poole, Associate Director of Intercultural Affairs and Director of International Student Life at the University of Georgia, has been selected as one of four national participants in the Fulbright International Education Administrators (IEA) Program for Korea for two weeks in June 2008. The short-term Fulbright IEA seminars introduce participants to the society, culture and higher education systems of various countries through campus visits, meetings with foreign colleagues and government officials, attendance at cultural events and briefings on education. Poole began work at UGA in August 2000. Her most recent projects in the International Student Life Office include the creation of the Global Leadership Institute as well as authoring publications on creating learning outcomes and intercultural interactions. In 2006, she received UGA’s Pedro Zamora Horizons Award in recognition of her long-standing commitment to diversity, and in 2004 she was selected as a Fulbright Scholar for the U.S.-Germany IEA Program. Leigh is very excited about this wonderful opportunity and looks forward to sharing her experiences with the UGA community upon her return.
