Delta Air Lines and the University of Georgia presented the 2008 Delta Prize for Global Understanding to Martti Ahtisaari, former president of Finland on April 3, 2008 at the University of Georgia. Ahtisaari was recognized for his efforts to secure peace in Kosovo, Namibia, Aceh, and other troubled parts of the world.
