Research Interests
My research interests include workplace mentoring, clinical supervision,
dysfunctional personal relationships, occupational health psychology, and the relationship
between work and family life. I have many different on-going research projects, including a
large scale cross-disciplinary meta-analysis on mentoring (and several specific spin-off
studies related to this larger project), various studies examining the positive and negative
aspects of workplace mentoring relationships from both the mentor and protégé perspective,
and a longitudinal study examining the relationship between clinical supervisory relationships
(a specific type of mentoring relationship), work attitudes, burnout, and turnover in substance
abuse treatment facilities. I am also conducting collaborative research with former graduate
students on a wide range of work-family topics, such as work-family conflict, work-family
enrichment and the emotional demands of work and family life.
